974 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said, “I was informed by Sayyār; ʿAbd Allah ibn Shumayṭ narrated to us; he said: I heard my father, whenever he described the people devoted to this world, say:
‘Ever stuffed, scant of discernment; his only concern is his belly, his private parts, and his skin. He keeps saying, “When will morning come so that I may eat, drink, amuse myself, and play? When will night fall so that I may sleep?” A corpse by night, an idler by day.’”}
