98 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-ʿAbdi narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn Khunays related to us, from Wuhaib ibn al-Ward, who said:

“ʿUmar ibn Dharr was one of the public exhorters, and he would often say, ‘Servants of Allah, do not be deceived by the length of Allah’s forbearance ⦗68⦘. Guard yourselves against His wrath, for you have heard what Allah has said: “Then, when they provoked Us, We took vengeance on them and drowned them all together” (al-Zukhruf 55); “and We made them a precedent and an example for those who would come after” (al-Zukhruf 56).’”
