94 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Hārūn narrated to us; he said: Sayyār narrated to us; he said: Jaʿfar narrated to us; he said: I heard Mālik ibn Dīnār say:

“O bearers of the Quran, what has the Quran sown in your hearts? The Quran is the believer’s springtime, just as the rain is the earth’s springtime. Rain may pour down from the sky upon the ground and hit a refuse heap, yet if there is a single grain within it, the stench of its place will not prevent it from stirring, sprouting, and greening. So, O bearers of the Quran, what has the Quran planted in your hearts? Where are the people of its surahs, where are the people of its surahs? It is plain to see from what you have done with it.”
