7 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: Saʿd ibn Zunbūr Abū Isḥāq al-Hamdānī narrated to us; he said: ʿAmmār ibn Muḥammad ath-Thawrī narrated to us, from Yaḥyā ibn ʿUbayd Allāh, from his father, from Abū Hurayrah, who said:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Toward the end of time there will emerge people who use the religion as a snare to obtain worldly gain. They will appear before others in sheep-wool cloaks, feigning humility; their tongues are sweeter than sugar, yet their hearts are the hearts of wolves. Allah—Mighty and Majestic—will say: ‘Is it Me that you presume to deceive, and against Me that you dare to be bold? By Myself I swear, I shall certainly send upon those people a trial that will leave even the most forbearing among them bewildered.’”
