56 – ‘Abd Allah narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn ‘Ali ibn Shaqiq narrated to us; he said: Ibrahim ibn al-Ash‘ath narrated to us; he said: Muslim ibn Khalid, dictating from his book, ⦗52⦘ narrated to us; he said: Saif ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from ‘Adi ibn ‘Adi, from a servant of his, from his grandfather, who said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, “Allah does not punish the general populace because of the deeds of the select few until the populace are able to denounce and change the select few. If the populace do not act to change them, Allah punishes both the populace and the select few.”
