54 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn Ḥassān al-Samtī narrated to us; he said: Abū ʿUthmān ʿAbd Allah ibn Zayd al-Kalbī informed us; he said: al-Awzāʿī related to me, from Ḥassān ibn ʿAṭiyyah, from Ibn ʿUmar, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A people will never be ruined—even when they are oppressive wrongdoers—so long as their governors are themselves guided and guiding others. Yet those same people will perish—even when they are on the right path—if their governors are oppressive evildoers.”
