46 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Azhar ibn Marwan al-Raqashi informed us; he said: Jaʿfar ibn Sulayman informed us; he said: Ibn Abi Shayban informed us, from ʿAtaʾ al-Khurasani—so I think—from Ibn ʿAbbas, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said: “A time will come when the believer’s heart will melt away just as salt dissolves in water.” He was asked, “What will cause that?” ⦗48⦘ He replied, “Because of the rampant evil that he is unable to change.”
