42 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Suwayd ibn Saʿid narrated to us; he said: Salih ibn Musa narrated to us, from Abu Hazim, from Sahl ibn Saʿd al-Saʿidi:

One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr, “What will you do when you are left among the dregs of people—people whose pledges and trusts have become confused, who fall into mutual discord until they are like this?” He then interlaced his fingers.

ʿAbd Allah replied, “Allah and His Messenger know best.”

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Hold fast to what you recognize as right and leave what you repudiate. Beware of changing colors in the religion of Allah. Attend to your own soul and leave the general populace to themselves.”
