- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: al-Qasim ibn Hashim related to me; he said: al-Hajjaj ibn Muhammad al-Khawlani narrated to us; he said: Tawbah ibn al-Nuʿman al-Yazani and Mahdi ibn al-Walid ibn ʿAmir—both transmitting from al-Walid ibn ʿAmir al-Yazani, from Buraid ibn Himyar, from ʿUmayr ibn Saʿd, a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ—said:
“He used to say, ‘Your best people and your scholars will certainly depart, until nothing remains in ⦗224⦘ your gatherings but raw youngsters who possess neither intellect nor sound judgment; they will wrest control of your affairs.’”
٣٥٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا تَوْبَةُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ الْيَزَنِيُّ، وَمَهْدِيُّ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، كِلَاهُمَا عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْيَزَنِيِّ، عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ حِمْيَرٍ، عَنْ عُمَيْرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، صَاحِبِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: " كَانَ يَقُولُ: لَيَذْهَبَنَّ خِيَارُكُمْ وَعُلَمَاؤُكُمْ، حَتَّى لَا يَبْقَى فِي ⦗٢٢٤⦘ مَجَالِسِكُمْ إِلَّا الْأَغْمَارُ الْأَحْدَاثُ الَّذِينَ لَا عُقُولَ لَهُمْ وَلَا رَأْيَ، يَغْلِبُونَكُمْ عَلَى أُمُورِكُمْ "
