Al-'UqubatIbn Abi al-Dunya
  1. ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: al-Qāsim ibn Hāshim related to me; he said: ʿAlī ibn ʿAbbās narrated to us; he said: Saʿīd ibn Sinān narrated to us; he said: Hudayr ibn Kurayb told me, from Abū Thaʿlabah al-Khushani, that he used to say:

“O people, among the portents of the Hour is that intellects will diminish, sound judgment will vanish, worries will multiply, the signs of truth will come to pass, and oppression will spread. Another of the portents of the Hour is that trustworthiness will be taken away, mercy will be removed, ties of kinship will be cut, charity will be withheld, and greed will bridle the people—so you will meet none but someone thus bridled—until the one who possesses much has no surplus from his abundance, the one with little is not content with his scarcity, and whatever either of them attains, he still regards himself as a pauper in comparison.”
