40 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Yahya ibn Yazid al-Ahwazi narrated to us; he said: Abu Hammam al-Ahwazi narrated to us, from Marwan ibn Salim, from ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn ʿAmr, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When a sin is concealed, it harms only the one who committed it; but when it becomes public and is not corrected, it harms the general populace.”
