350 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: Ibrāhīm ibn Saʿīd told me; he said: Dāwūd ibn Manṣūr told us; he said: Sālim ibn al-Ashʿath, on the authority of ʿAmrah, said: ⦗222⦘ “I was with ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) when a woman arrived, clinging to a man. She claimed that he had taken a ring of hers, while he denied it. The woman then said, ‘Say “Āmīn,” may Allah have mercy on you: O Allah, if I am lying, then make my hand wither; and if he is lying, then wither his hand.’ The next morning the man awoke, and his right hand had withered.”
ʿAmrah added: “I performed the pilgrimage twice—or perhaps three times—and throughout those journeys I would hear men from both Mecca and Madinah say, ‘If I have done such-and-such, then let Allah expose me just as He exposed the owner of the ring.’”
