335 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn al-Miqdam narrated to us; he said: Hammad ibn Zayd informed us, from Zayd ibn Hazim, from Sulayman ibn Yasar, that a man from Ghifar named Jahjah—some said Jahjaʾ al-Ghifari—entered upon ʿUthman (may Allah be pleased with him), snatched the staff that was in his hand, and smashed it against his own knee. A devouring ulcer then broke out in that knee.
