317 – ‘Abd Allāh narrated to us; he said: Isḥāq ibn Ismā‘īl narrated to us; he said: Jarīr narrated to us, from Layth, from ‘Aṭā’, from Ibn ‘Umar, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: “When people become tight-fisted with the dinar and the dirham, conduct ʿīnah (a usurious form of sale), pursue the tails of cattle, and abandon jihad, Allah Most High will impose upon them a humiliation that He will not lift from them until they return to their religion.”
