Al-'UqubatIbn Abi al-Dunya

316 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Khalid ibn Khidāsh told us; Ḥammād ibn Zayd told us, from Yazīd ibn Ḥāzim, from Sulaymān ibn Yasār:

A group of people were on a journey. When they mounted and moved on they recited: “Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, for we could never have mastered it on our own; and surely to our Lord we shall return” (Az-Zukhruf 43:14).

One of the travellers owned a large, groaning she-camel. He remarked, “As for me, I have already mastered this one!” The animal bolted with him and snapped his neck.
