Al-'UqubatIbn Abi al-Dunya

313 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: my father (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated to me; he said: Waddāḥ ibn Ḥassān narrated to us; he said: on the authority of Abū al-Muḥayyā Yahyā ibn Yaʿlā, from ʿUmar ibn al-Ḥakam, from his uncle, who said:

“We set out for Mecca, and with us was a man who would revile Abū Bakr and ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them). We warned him, but he refused to desist. He then stepped away to take care of something, whereupon a swarm of hornets closed in on him. He cried out for help, and we hurried to his aid, but they turned on us, so we pulled back. They did not leave him until they had ripped him to pieces.”
