31 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: ʿAli ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; he said: al-Mubarak ⦗37⦘ informed us, from al-Hasan, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said, “When Allah the Exalted intends good for a people, He entrusts their affairs to their forbearing ones and places their public wealth in the hands of their generous ones. But when Allah intends ill for a people, He puts their affairs in the charge of their foolish ones and consigns their public wealth to their miserly ones.”
