281 – ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; he said: Abū Khaythama narrated to us; he said: Jarīr narrated to us, from ʿAṭāʾ ibn al-Sāʾib, from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, from ʿAlī, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:
“When Allah created the earth, it contracted and said, ‘Upon me will dwell Adam and his descendants; they will throw their filth upon me and commit sins upon me.’ So Allah anchored it with the mountains—some of them you see and others you do not. The earth’s first moment of stability was like the flesh of a camel when it is slaughtered: its meat still twitches.”
