264 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us: ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us; he said: Zuhayr ibn Muʿāwiyah narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, from Maymūn ibn Mihrān, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Sidān, from Ḥudhayfah, who said: “By Allah, you will most certainly enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, or else you will end up fighting one another; then the worst among you will undoubtedly ⦗177⦘ gain ascendancy over the best among you and will kill them until no one remains who enjoins right or forbids wrong. Thereafter you will call upon Allah, and He will not answer you, owing to His wrath against you.”
