238 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn al-Harith narrated to us; he said: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Abu ʿUbaydah, who said ⦗161⦘:

“There was once a king among the Children of Israel who declared, ‘I do not know of anyone today more powerful than I am.’ Thereupon Allah unleashed against him the feeblest of His creatures—a mosquito. It slipped into his nostril, and he kept shouting, ‘Strike here, strike here!’ So they battered his head with axes until it was crushed.”
