24 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Azhar ibn Marwan al-Raqashi told me; he said: Ghassan ibn Burzin informed us; he said: Rashid Abū Muḥammad al-Himmani narrated to me; he said: Ibn ʿUmar said:

“There was a time when none of us regarded himself as having any greater right to his dinar or dirham than his fellow Muslim. I myself heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘When people become tight-fisted with the dinar and the dirham, engage in ʿīnah transactions (a back-to-back sale used to disguise interest), abandon jihad, ⦗34⦘ and busy themselves with holding on to the tails of cattle, Allah will send down upon them a humiliation from the sky which He will not lift from them until they return to their religion.’”
