22 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm informed us; he said: Ādam ibn Abī Iyyās informed us, from a shaykh of Banī Tamīm, from Abū Rawq ʿAṭiyyah ibn al-Ḥārith, from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: “Allah created a mountain called Qāf that encircles the whole world, and its roots extend down to the rock upon which the earth rests. Whenever Allah wills to shake a particular village, He orders that mountain to move the root that lies beneath that village; the village then quakes and is set in motion—so one settlement is shaken while the one next to it remains undisturbed.”
