188 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; and Yusuf likewise reported, saying: Muslim b. Ibrahim related to us; he said: Nuh b. Qays related to us; al-Walid b. Hassan transmitted from al-Hasan, who said:

“About His words: ‘the Companions of the Thicket’ (Qaf 50:14): Allah loosed upon them an intense heat for seven days and seven nights, until neither the shade of a house nor any coolness brought them relief. Then a cloud was driven toward them in the open wilderness. They went to it and found a pleasant breeze beneath it, so they called to one another, and when they had all gathered under it, Allah turned the cloud into a blazing fire over them—‘so the punishment of the Day of the Canopy seized them’ (al-Shuʿarāʾ 26:189).”
