19 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Abū Jaʿfar ʿUmar ibn Abī al-Ḥārith al-Hamdānī narrated to me; he said: Rajāʾ ibn Salamah ibn Rajāʾ narrated to me; he said: my father narrated to me, from Saʿd ibn Ṭarīf, from al-Ḥakam ibn ʿUtaybah, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿUmar, who said: ⦗31⦘

Madinah trembled with an earthquake during the time of ʿUmar. He struck the ground with his hand and said, “What is the matter with you? What is the matter with you? Had it truly been the Resurrection, it would have related to us its news. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘When the Day of Resurrection comes, not a single cubit nor even a handspan of it will remain without speaking about people.’”
