178 – ʿAbd Allāh related to us; he said: al-ʿAbbās ibn Yazīd al-Baṣrī narrated to us; he said: Isḥāq ibn Idrīs narrated to us; he said: Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān al-Ḍabʿī narrated to us, from ʿAwf, from Saʿīd ibn Abī al-Ḥasan, who said: ⦗122⦘

“When the whale swallowed Jonah, peace be upon him, he supposed that death had already overtaken him. He stretched out his legs and found that he was still alive. Thereupon he rose and performed his prayer, and in his supplication he said, ‘I have prepared for You a place of prostration where no one before me has ever built one.’”
