163 – ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn ʿAbbād ibn Mūsā likewise related to me; he said: ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Qurashī narrated, from Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān, from Ghālib al-Qaṭṭān, who said:
“The distress of Joseph grew severe, his imprisonment dragged on, his garments became soiled, his hair turned unkempt, and people shunned him. In the midst of that hardship he prayed: ‘O Allah, I complain to You of what I have suffered at the hands of both friend and foe. My friends sold me and took my price, while my enemies cast me into prison. O Allah, grant me relief and a way out.’ And Allah granted him just that.”
