155 – ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; he said: Azhar ibn Marwān related to me; he said: ʿAbd al-Aʿlā ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā narrated to us; he said: Hishām, on the authority of al-Ḥasan, said: “Eighty years passed from the day Joseph left Jacob until the day they met again. Throughout that entire period grief never left Jacob’s heart, and his tears did not cease until he lost his sight. In those days there was no one on earth more honored by Allah than he.”
