Al-'UqubatIbn Abi al-Dunya

143 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us. Muhammad ibn al-Husayn also related to me. He said: Ibrāhīm ibn Bakr narrated to us; he said: Hishām ibn al-Ghāz narrated to us; he said: ⦗95⦘ “We passed through the valley of Thamud while Makḥūl was with us. He went in, and we went in with him. He began to weep, and his weeping grew intense. When we spoke to him about it he said, ‘He used to dislike people entering upon them unless the person was weeping or taking a lesson, and no one can control his eyes.’”
