133 – ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; he said: Muhammad ibn al-Ḥusayn related to me; he said: Qabīṣah ibn ʿUqbah narrated to us; he said: Sufyān narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Rufayʿ, from Abū al-Ṭufayl, who said:

“When they said to Ṣāliḥ, ‘Bring us what you promise us, if you are truly one of the messengers’ (Qur’an 7:77), he pointed to a certain hillside among the hills. Suddenly it began to heave like a woman in labor, then it split apart and there emerged the she-camel. Ṣāliḥ said to them, ‘This is Allah’s she-camel, a sign for you. So let her graze in Allah’s land and do not touch her with any harm, lest a painful punishment seize you’ (Qur’an 7:73).”
