123 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: ʿAli b. al-Husayn b. Abi Maryam also related to me, from ʿAmr b. Khalid, who said: I heard ʿAbd al-Rahman b. Zubayd al-Yami mention that Ṭalhah b. Musarrif once cast his eye upon a man who had been beaten—I think with whips—and he burst into tears, saying, “This is part of the ill-omen that followed from that single bite,” meaning the bite Adam (peace be upon him) took from the tree.
