110 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: Mahmūd al-Warrāq recited:

O gazer who peers with slumber-heavy eyes,
A “witness” to events who never truly sees;

You pampered your soul with a fatal illusion
And loosed it on the highways of hope that lead nowhere.

You weld sin to sin and still expect to gain
The Gardens and the triumph reserved for the devout.

Have you forgotten that Allah expelled Adam from there
Down to this world for but a single lapse?
