6 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Salih related to me; Ibn Qusaym reported: “I was sitting with Ibn Shubruma when a man said, ‘Shall I not relate to you a hadith that has reached me from the Prophet ﷺ?’ Ibn Shubruma replied, ‘Go ahead; perhaps you have brought a fine report.’ The man said, ‘Four qualities Allah grants only to those He loves.’ Ibn Shubruma asked, ‘What are they?’ He answered, ‘Silence—it is the first act of worship—tawakkul upon Allah (reliance on Him), humility, and zuhd in this world (detachment from worldly life).’
