52. ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said: ʿAlī ibn Abī Maryam likewise related to me, from Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn, who reported from Aḥmad ibn Sahl al-Urdunnī, who said:

I heard Abū Farwah the Ascetic say: “A man spoke to me in a dream and asked, ‘Do you not know that those who rely on Allah are the ones who live in ease?’

“I replied, ‘May Allah have mercy on you—at ease from what?’

“He said, ‘From the worries of this world and from the hardship of the Reckoning tomorrow.’”

Abū Farwah continued: “By Allah, after that I never fretted over whether my provision came slowly or swiftly; for whoever places his trust firmly in Him, He suffices him concerning whatever troubles him and channels sustenance and goodness toward him. Allah, exalted is He, has said: ‘And whoever puts his trust in Allah—He is sufficient for him; indeed, Allah will accomplish His decree’ (At-Talāq 3).”
