46 – Abu Bakr said, “It has reached me that one of the sages stated:
‘Tawakkul (reliance on Allah) has three degrees. The first is to refrain from complaint; the second is contentment; and the third is love. Refraining from complaint is the degree of patience. Contentment is the heart’s tranquility with whatever Allah has allotted to a person, and it is higher than the first. Love is for one’s heart to cherish whatever Allah does with him. Thus, the first degree is for the ascetics, the second for the truthful, and the third for the messengers.’”
