40 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; al-Ḥasan ibn ʿĪsā related to us; ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak reported to us; Fulayḥ ibn Sulaymān, from Hilāl ibn ʿAlī, from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār⦗67⦘, from Abū Hurayrah, who said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“Indeed, the people of Paradise will behold one another in their lofty chambers just as you gaze at a bright star in the eastern sky, or at a star in the western horizon as it sets—such is the difference in their ranks.”
They asked, “Messenger of Allah, are those (lofty dwellings) for the prophets?” He replied, “No, by Him in Whose hand is my soul! They are people who believed in Allah and His messengers and affirmed the truthfulness of the messengers.”
