43 – ʿAmr ibn Muḥammad al-Nāqid narrated to us, Anas ibn ʿIyāḍ Abū Ḍamrah al-Madīnī narrated to us, and Abū Ḥāzim narrated—he said: “I know it only from Sahl ibn Saʿd al-Sāʿidī”—who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: ⦗62⦘

“Beware of the sins you look down upon. The case of these trivialized sins is like a people who halted in an open wilderness, kindled a fire, and then one of them brought a small stick, another brought a small stick, until they had baked their bread. Likewise, the seemingly insignificant sins—once their perpetrator is called to account for them—will destroy him.”
