26 – Bashshar ibn Musa and ʿUbaydullah ibn ʿUmar narrated to us, saying: Jaʿfar ibn Sulayman al-Dubaʿi related to us; al-Jaʿd Abu ʿUthman al-Yashkuri ⦗52⦘ transmitted from Abu Rajaʾ al-ʿUtaridi, from Ibn ʿAbbas, who said: The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever resolves to do a good deed but then does not carry it out, one good deed is still written for him. If he does perform it, it is recorded for him as ten good deeds, up to seven-hundredfold, and even more besides. Whoever resolves to commit an evil deed and does not do it, one good deed is written for him; but if he does commit it, a single evil deed is written against him—or Allah may erase it. None is ruined before Allah except one who insists on ruining himself.”
