Al-TawbaIbn Abi al-Dunya

201 – Hamzah ibn al-‘Abbās narrated to me; Wahb ibn Zam‘ah informed us; ‘Abd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak informed us, from Ibn Jurayj—reciting—who said:

“The angel on his right records the good deeds, while the one on his left records the bad deeds. The angel on the right writes without needing permission or testimony, but the angel on the left does not write without the permission or testimony of the one on the right.

If the servant sits, one of them is at his right and the other at his left. If he walks, one goes before him and the other behind him. And if he lies down, one is at his head and the other at his feet.”
