16 – Abu Khaythama narrated to us; Yahya ibn Saʿid, from al-Taymi, from Abu ʿUthman, from Ibn Masʿud, reported that a man had kissed a woman and then came to the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—asking about the expiation for it. Thereupon the following verse was revealed: “Establish the prayer at the two ends of the day and during the early watches of the night” (Hud 11:114). The man said, “O Messenger of Allah, is this verse meant for me?” He replied, “It is for you and for anyone of my community who acts upon it.”
