177 – Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Harawī narrated to us; Hushaim reported to us; al-ʿAwwām ibn Ḥawshab, from someone who conveyed it to him, from ʿAlī, who said: “The best of you are those who, whenever they are tempted, keep turning back in repentance.”
It was asked, “And if he lapses again?”
He answered, “He seeks Allah’s forgiveness and repents.”
They asked, “And if he lapses yet again?”
He replied, “He seeks Allah’s forgiveness and repents.”
They said, “Until when?”
He said, “Until Satan is the one who is worn out.”
