172 – Yaḥyā ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd al-Ḥimmanī narrated to us; my father narrated to us; ʿUthmān ibn Wāqid, from Abū Nuṣayrah, who said: I met the freedman of Abū Bakr and asked him, “Did you hear anything from Abū Bakr?” He replied, “Yes. I heard Abū Bakr say that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ⦗132⦘ “The one who seeks forgiveness is not deemed persistent in sin, even if he falls back into it seventy times in a single day.”
