150 – Muḥammad b. al-ʿAbbās b. Muḥammad related to me; Muḥammad b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Rāshid related to us; Muḥammad b. Muṭarrif, from Zayd—meaning Ibn Aslam—narrated from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. al-Baylamānī, who said:
Four of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once gathered ⦗121⦘. One of them said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declare, ‘Allah accepts His servant’s repentance a full day before the servant dies.’”
The second asked, “Did you really hear that from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?” He replied, “Yes.” He then said, “And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, ‘Indeed, Allah accepts it half a day before he dies.’”
The third said, “You heard this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?” He answered, “Yes.” He continued, “And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, ‘Allah accepts His servant’s repentance before he dies in the forenoon.’”
The fourth asked, “Did you hear that from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?” He replied, “Yes.” He then said, “And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, ‘Allah accepts His servant’s repentance so long as his soul has not yet reached his throat.’”
