Al-TawbaIbn Abi al-Dunya

147 – Ismaʿil ibn Abi al-Harith narrated to me; Kathir ibn Hisham narrated to us; Jaʿfar ibn Burqan narrated: I said to a man from Basra, “Why does one of us not long to remain constantly in a state of blessing before his Lord—seeking forgiveness for a sin, then relapsing, then seeking forgiveness again, and relapsing once more?” He replied, “This was mentioned to al-Hasan, and he said, ‘Satan would love to rob you of this, so never grow weary of seeking forgiveness.’”
