Al-TawbaIbn Abi al-Dunya

13 – It was narrated to me from ʿUqbah b. Mukram al-ʿAmmi; Muḥammad b. Abī ʿAdī related it, from al-Ashʿath, who said: “I entered the prison and found al-Farazdaq ⦗39⦘ there, composing poetry. He said, ‘I once met Abū Hurayrah, who told me: “O Farazdaq, I see that your feet are small, so seek a place for them at the Basin.” I replied, “But I have done this and I have done that.” He said, “Repentance is still accepted so long as the sun has not risen from the west, no matter what deeds a servant may have committed.”’
