131 – Ya‘qūb ibn ‘Ubayd narrated to us; Abū Mushir al-Dimashqī narrated to us; Sadaqah ibn Khālid narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn ‘Abd Allāh al-Shu‘aythī told me, from Maslamah ibn ‘Abd Allāh al-Juhanī, from Khālid ibn al-Lajlāj, from his father, who said:

We were young boys working in the marketplace when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that a certain man be stoned, and he was stoned. Later a man came to us asking where he could find the one who had been stoned. We grabbed hold of him and took him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, saying, “Messenger of Allah, this man came asking us about that wicked fellow who was stoned today.”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, “Do not say ‘wicked’. By Allah, in the sight of Allah he is more fragrant than musk.”
