129 – Repent to Allah before the decree is sealed. A sage-poet said:

Repent to Allah, my brother, before the appointed decree on your life is passed;
And never feel secure against the sudden assaults of Time.

Do not shut your ears to my plea, for I call you only
Out of pity for you—so that you may be spared the weight of sin.

Calamities have already told their tale when they descended upon you;
They called out to you, but your hearing was dull and heavy.

You wail and weep when close friends pass away,
Yet you do not weep for yourself while you follow hard on their heels.
