9 – Ahmad ibn Ishaq ibn ‘Isa al-Ahwazi related to me; Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Muqri’ related to me, from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak, that he used to recite:
[al-baḥr al-taqārub]
Committing sins deadens the heart,
and constant indulgence may breed humiliation;
Shunning sins revives the heart,
and the best thing you can do for yourself is to resist them.
