88 – Ḥusayn ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān recited to us:
When a man’s concerns keep swelling ever greater,
While his days, like a rider in haste, speed on and are spent;
Though cares enough were bound up in what has already gone by,
The herald of death still knocks—again and again.
Yet he has never resolved to repent,
Nor stored up any provision for meeting Allah.
May Allah reprimand a people whose only wish and care
Is the shattered rubble of a world fated to perish and pass away.
