6 – Abu Hafs related this to me; Saʿid ibn Ashʿath ibn Saʿid narrated it to us; al-Harith ibn ʿUbayd al-Iyadi informed me, from Thabit al-Bunani, from Muʿawiyah ibn Qurrah, who said: ʿAli ibn Abi Talib declared, “I hope that a servant’s repentance for his sin is nothing other than his remorse over it.”
٦ - وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَفْصٍ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْحَارِثُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْإِيَادِيُّ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ: إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ يَكُونَ، تَوْبَةُ الْعَبْدِ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ نَدَامَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ "
