5 – Muhammad ibn Abi ʿUmar … and Ḥamad ibn Ibrahim, from … ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Walid narrated to me; I heard ʿAbd … Hujayr …, from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAbbas, who said: ⦗17⦘
“You spend the nights and days with your lifespans steadily diminishing, while your deeds are being carefully recorded. Whoever sows goodness will soon reap it in hopeful delight, and whoever sows evil will soon reap remorse. Every sower reaps exactly what he has planted. The slow-moving person will not be outstripped with respect to his allotted share, nor will the eager one obtain what has not been decreed for him. Thus, whoever is granted good—Allah is the One who has granted it; and whoever is shielded from evil—Allah is the One who has protected him. The God-fearing are the nobles, the scholars are the leaders, and sitting in their company is a true gain.”
